Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Paris2Tokyo collects when you visit https://www.paris2tokyo.com, why, and what control you have. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than boilerplate.

The short version

We do not sell your personal data, and you do not need an account to use the site. We do use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand traffic, Google AdSense to show ads, and affiliate links that set cookies so partners can credit a booking to us. You can opt out of personalised ads and clear cookies at any time — details below.

What we collect

Automatically, when you visit

Like virtually every website, our servers keep standard access logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you requested, referring page, and timestamps. These are used to keep the site running, diagnose faults, and defend against abuse. They are retained for a limited period and then deleted.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and how they move through the site — so we can improve it. This uses cookies and similar identifiers. The information is aggregated and we do not use it to identify you personally. See Google’s privacy policy; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

We also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our pages. It builds aggregated heatmaps and session replays that show where people click, scroll and pause, so we can improve the layout and usability. Clarity sets cookies and, by default, masks any text you type so it is not captured. The information is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.

Advertising

We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and device identifiers to serve and measure ads and, where permitted, to personalise them based on your interests. We do not receive the personal data Google collects for this. You can control ad personalisation in Google Ad Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent, where required, before personalised ads are shown.

Booking and affiliate links

Many outbound links to airlines, hotels, rental, transfer and activity partners are affiliate links. When you click one, the partner and its affiliate network (such as Travelpayouts) may set a cookie so that if you book, the booking is credited to us and we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These cookies identify the referral, not you by name. See our disclosure.

Podcast audio

Audio files are served from our content delivery network. When your podcast app or browser downloads an episode, the request is logged — IP address, user agent, timestamp and which file was requested. This is how podcast download statistics work across the industry; it tells us an episode was downloaded, not who you are.

Third-party platforms

If you listen through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music or any other directory, or follow us on social media, that platform collects data under its own privacy policy, which we neither control nor receive in identifiable form. We see only aggregate statistics.

If you contact us

If you email us, we keep the message and your address so we can reply. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary, analytics, advertising and affiliate cookies as described above and in our Cookie Policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time.

Legal basis (UK/EU/EEA visitors)

Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests to operate, secure and improve the site and to run affiliate measurement; on your consent for analytics and personalised advertising where consent is required; and, where you contact us, to respond to your enquiry. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising, and to data portability. Residents of California and several other US states have comparable rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

To exercise any of these, email support@paris2tokyo.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support@paris2tokyo.com and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our hosting, analytics, advertising and content-delivery providers operate globally, so data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date shown on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
