This policy explains what Paris2Tokyo collects when you visit https://www.paris2tokyo.com, why, and what control you have. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than boilerplate.

The short version

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to listen to anything.

What we collect

Automatically, when you visit

Like virtually every website, our servers keep standard access logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you requested, referring page, and timestamps. These are used to keep the site running, diagnose faults, and defend against abuse. They are retained for a limited period and then deleted.

Podcast audio

Audio files are served from our content delivery network. When your podcast app or browser downloads an episode, the request is logged in the same way — IP address, user agent, timestamp and which file was requested. This is how podcast download statistics work across the entire industry; it tells us an episode was downloaded, not who you are.

Third-party podcast platforms

If you listen through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music or any other directory, that platform collects data under its own privacy policy, which we neither control nor receive in identifiable form. We see only aggregate statistics.

If you contact us

If you email us, we keep the message and your address so we can reply and, where relevant, keep a record of a correction. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Cookies

The site itself sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. WordPress may set strictly functional cookies if you leave a comment or log in as an administrator. See our Cookie Policy for detail.

Legal basis for processing (UK/EU visitors)

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we process the limited data above on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the site, and — where you have contacted us — to respond to your enquiry.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Residents of California and several other US states have comparable rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support@paris2tokyo.com and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our hosting and content delivery providers operate globally, so data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date shown on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
